Steiff The First American Teddy was made in 2003 to celebrate the arrival of the first Steiff teddy bears to the United States in 1903, this beautiful classic Steiff is made of the finest blonde mohair, 38cm/15in tall and fully jointed with a growler. The 'First American Teddy' proudly wears a white felt "Uncle Sam" top hat with a blue satin ribbon embroidered with white stars, around his neck his red satin bow tie is also embroidered with white stars. His expressive face has black boot button eyes, a shaved muzzle and hand stitched nose and mouth, he has 3 beige felt paw pads, one of which has FIRST AMERICAN TEDDY embroidered on it, the 4th pad is a satin Stars and Stripes flag. For the first time Steiff have modified their 'button in ear' tag to a miniature American flag, he comes in a beautiful white box and is limited to the year 2003.
